தமிழிசையில் காதல்

கண்ணன் பாட்டில் இல்லாத சிருங்கார ரசம் வேறு எங்கும் உண்டோ?
கோபிகையர் கண்ணனுடன் கூடிக் குலவும்போது பொங்கி வராத காதல் ரசம் வேறு எங்கும் வரப்போவது இல்லை. ஆண்டாளின் திருப்பாவையில் இல்லாத காதலா?

ஒரு விஷயம். தமிழர்கள் கடவுளிலும் காதலைக் கண்டனர். காதலிலும் கடவுளையே கண்டனர்.

இன்னொரு விஷயம். ஹிந்துஸ்தானி முறை இசைக்கும் கர்நாடக இசைக்கும் சரித்திர ரீதியாகப்  பார்த்தால் பல வேறுபாடுகள். அதில் முக்கியமானது, இவ்விரு இசைகளும் எங்கு அதிகமாகப் போற்றிப் பேணப் பட்டன என்பது.
மாறுதல்கள் பல வந்தன, வடக்கில் . ஹிந்துஸ்தானி முறை இசை முகலாய தாக்கத்தில் தத்தளித்தது. மன்னர் பலர் மாண்டனர். சுல்த்தான்கள் தயவில் இசைக்கலைஞர்கள். பாடல்களின் பரிமாணங்களும் மாறின. உடலளாவிய காதலுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் அதிகமாயிற்று. கடந்த 400 வருடமாக, பல வடக்கத்திய gharana என்று சொல்லக்கூடிய இசைப் பரம்பரைகள் குருமன்னர்களால் பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தன. Kotta என்று உருது மொழியில் சொல்லப்பட்ட விலைமாதுக்கள் வசிக்குமிடமே அவ்விசைக்கும் புகலிடமாயிற்று.   விலைமாதுக்களின் விரகம் விவகாரமாய் இசையிலும் புகுந்தது. இதை நான் சரியன்றோ தவறென்றோ கூறவில்லை. சரித்திரத்தைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன் அவ்வளவுதான்.

விந்திய மலைக்குத் தெற்கில் இந்த பிரச்சனை வரவில்லை. அதனால் கர்நாடக இசையில் பக்தியின் தாக்கமே அதிகம்.  இது சினிமாவின் தாக்கம் வரும் வரை. சினிமாவின் தாக்கத்தால் இன்று பக்தியைத் தவிர மற்ற எல்லா ரசமும் பழ ரசம் போலப் பெருகி வருகிறது.

தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் பக்தி தவிரவும் பல்வேறு ரசங்களும் விரிவாக அலசப்பட்டு விட்டன. தமிழில் இல்லாத ரசமே இல்லை என தைரியமாகக் கூறலாம்.

ஆனால், அந்தப் பாடல்களுக்கு இசை வடிவம் கொடுக்கும்போது பக்தி மட்டுமே பிரதானமாக வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. இதற்கும் ஒரு கலாச்சாரக்க் காரணம் உண்டு. இசை என்பது எல்லோருக்கும் பொதுவானது. பொதுவிடங்களில் பாடப்பட்டும், போற்றப்பட்டும் வந்தது. அவ்வாறு பாடப்படும்போது சில ரசங்கள் மட்டுமே பாடத்தகுந்ததாகக் கருதப்பட்டன. எல்லார் முன்னிலையிலும் காதலைப் பாடுவது எனக்குத் தெரிந்தவரை அக்கால கலாசாரத்தில் ஏற்புடையதாக இல்லை என்பது என் கருத்து. அதனால்தான் பக்திக்கும், வீரத்துக்கும் முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.  

मलाल है

नहीं मेरे पास देने के लिए कुछ मिसाल है ॥

तुम चाहे कितना भी ख़फ़ा क्यों न हो ।

मेरे क़दमों में आजकल ज़ोश ज़्यादा है ।
तेरी आहट-ए-क़दमों का कमाल है  ॥

गुलिस्तां छोड़कर मेरे पास अक्सर न आया करो ।
फूलों के आँखों में मलाल ही मलाल है ॥

My observations about Budget 2019

My observations on the Annual Budget:

1.It is nothing more than an annual jamboree.

2. Not much is achieved, as far as the Finances of the country are achieved, other than the mandatory tabling of statement of accounts of the govt to the parliament, followed by a customary voting. I don't expect 99% of the MPs to even understand the income and expenditure statements, and what they mean to the country in the next year ahead.

3. Most of the major Financial policy decisions are taken OUTSIDE of this budget session. As a simple example. It takes just one GST council session sitting, to change the GST on cars from 12% to 5%...  then what is the sanctity of this annual ritual called Budget?

4. It helps the respective FMs to show off their reading skills - not of figures and facts, but quotes from exotic languages that they are rarely good at, and something that they simply ask their secy to pull out from the magic hat. For example, maami's rendition of the Urdu doha at the start of today's session ( which I watched just now), was atrocious. As atrocious as Manmohan Singh's quoting Tiruvalluvar. It is best that these poetic greats are not murdered in open house in the Parliament.

5. Only a few people benefit from this exercise .

a) The Industry lobbyists, who manage to manipulate taxes on certain items to suit their respective lines of business.

b) Arm chair economists, who indulge in intellectual masturbation one month before the budget day ( pardon me for the language), and at the end of the day, achieve nothing more than empty discussions which really mean nothing for the country, and for the govt.

c) Media channels, who keep speculating on which sectors, and therefore which stocks, are likely to be favoured. Just as an example, in this very budget, the Auto stocks were drummed up, along with infrastructure stocks, as key plays for the budget. these stocks had rallied anywhere from 5% to 20% in the last one month. And just look at end of day prices for these very same stocks. Sample: Siemens has fallen 7%... and the media talk was , it should get a leg up. So, if one is a dumb investor, and bets on such speculative manipulation, then the only thing that will remain, is pain.

d) Mutual Fund houses, and Financial analysts, who have a field day, playing around with other peoples' money, peddling the budget story.

e) Some eminent people get their day under the arclights, making speeches about "their view" of the budget. And this is especially for the retired people. Because, the speeches are delivered with impeccable English, and sounding like authentic economic analysis, but are forgotten the very next day. Much like attending a kutcheri, having a good evening time pass, and getting on with life, the next morning. Nothing more to any of these "budget speeches". I have attended a couple of these budgets speeches by none other than Nani Palkhivala, in the early 90s in Bombay, and then gave it up.

6. I am not sure about the so-called privatization that is being talked about. Just 4 days ago, the govt announced a bail-out package for BSNL and MTNL, for 88000 crores. ( about $11B). There was no mention of where the money for that is going to come from, in this budget. If such a big financial move is announced, just 4 days ahead of the budget, then it clearly undermines the budget itself. And just for the record, the budget factors in 100% of divestment targets to be achieved, in it's income and expense statement, but not once in our 70 year history have we achieved even 50% of the set target. Only God knows which other corners are cut, in order to garner this money.

7. The biggest of the issues plaguing the economy have not really be addressed, in today's budget. Bank recapitalization, for example. This is the biggest need of the hour. Public Sector Banks, many of them, will be NCLT cases by now, technically speaking. There is no mention of merging more PSBs to achieve economies of scale. The govt had merged 3 PSBs lat year. There is no mention of how much money was saved by that. If no money was saved, then why bother doing it?

8. Nitin Gadkari, after returning as minister, had promised to link Godavari, Krishna and Cauvery. There appears no mention of that in the budget. At least 50000 crores at stake. Where is the money coming in from? Or, has the plan been dropped?? Or did I miss it in the budget speech that was delivered, having slept off, like some of the MPs did?

9. No mention of how the NPA mess of the NBFCs is going to be tackled.  Some private banks are already starting to sink under the weight of the IL&FS mess - Yes, to a big extent, and IndusInd Bank, to a lesser extent. Other NBFCs are sinking too - IB Housing Finance, Dewan Housing etc... 

10. The PM and FM had announced so grandly that India CAN become a 5 Trillion economy in 3 to 5 years time. Did you see an roadmap to that 5T, in this budget? I did not. If the annual budget does not lay down the vision for the future and how exactly we are going to achieve that, then of what use is this annual tamasha?

11. One the positives, firstly, the Railway budget, another big farce, in today's context, has been done away with. And no one is ever complaining about that.

12. In the past, the FMs to walk into South Block on Budget day, with their briefcases, and, at the end of the budget speech, used to leave the common man stripped to his briefs..🤣🤣 . 
With GST, that is not happening anymore. Thank Modi.

ஆசை தீர பார்த்து மகிழ்ந்தது.

இரவின் மடியில் மொட்டை மாடியில்
பறவை போல் கூட்டுறவு கண்டது
உறவை மறந்து தூக்கம் துறந்து
உரக்கக் கத்தி விளையாடியது .

அக்காலை வேளையில் அவசரமாய்
செக்காலைப் பயணம்- சின்ன வேலை!
எக்காரணமும் இன்றி டவுன் சென்று
முக்கால்வாசி பணமும் காலி!

மணியடித்தது தீன் திரையரங்கு
பணி முடிந்தது என நினைப்பு; பார்த்தால்
மணியடித்தது ஸ்டேஷன் மாஸ்டர்
