Ponni rice, in a clay pot, boils away
The jaggery adds flavour that makes us sway
The sugarcane from the yonder field, finds its way
To our home, adding to the mirth and gay.
The lovable cows that make milk flow
Munch the bananas that the backyards grow
As we celebrate Pongal, our hearts glow.
Happiness in the heart - the face does show.
The campfire on Bhogi(Lohri) shone
With our hopes realised, in the season foregone
Offering our obeisances, we thank the sun,
For all the bounties He gave, one by one.
May this Sankranti bring us more prosperity
May our hearts be filled with even more purity
May we rest in Harmony , our eternal verity
May the Land continue to be abundant, for all posterity.
