Riverside on a full moon night

The hot summer riverside
Beckoned us on a full moon night
The wild, soft reed plants
On the sandy banks
Waved us a warm welcome.

The night river was
draped in black satin
Bejewelled with
Diamonds of moonlight
In their effulgent best.

Your cold hands
Provided
The perfect foil
To the warm breeze.

But the storm in my heart
Went rather untamed
What, with you and me
And only silence for company.

It did appear that
The moon's craters
Had spread to my heart too
Pounded incessantly with
Pain and pleasure.

The gaze in your eyes
Appeared more resplendent
Than the reflection
On the water.

The gentle press of your hands
Was felt more soothing
Than the cold water
rustling under our feet.

It was as if Nature called out
"Camera, Lights on, Action!"
And what opened up though was
Opthalmic conduit for
Oppressed emotions!

What a night!
What a sight!
The Lunar sprite
Did give a heart-bite!
